How do Network Transmission Media works?

communication channel that is used to carry the data from the source to the receiver through the electromagnetic signals.

Transmission media is categorized into two types namely wired media & wireless media. The medium features of wired media are more significant but, in wireless media the signal features are important.

This kind of transmission media is also recognized as wired otherwise bounded media. In this type, the signals can be transmitted directly & restricted in a thin path through physical links.

Twisted Pair Cable

It includes two separately protected conductor wires. Normally, some pairs of cables are packed jointly in a protective cover. This is the most frequently used type of transmission media. When an electronic signal finished a wire, that makes a small magnetic field around a wire. When place two wires composed, the magnetic fields are opposite of each other. So, two magnetic fields are disappearing.

UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair)

The advantage of UTP is a low cost, very simple to install, and high speed.

The disadvantages of UTP is accountable to exterior interfering, transmits in less distances, and less capacity. UTP cable is used for many networks. This cable includes eight copper wires covered by an insulating material. UTP cable canceling real of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI).

STP (Shielded Twisted Pair)

It is used in rapid data rate Ethernet, in voice & data channels of telephone lines.

The main advantages of STP cable mainly include good speed, removes crosstalk.

The main disadvantages are hard to manufacture as well as install, It is expensive and huge also

 Coaxial Cable

This cable contains an external plastic cover and it includes two parallel conductors where each conductor includes a separate protection cover.

This cable is used to convey data in two styles like baseband mode as well as broadband mode. This cable is widely used in cable TVs & analog TV networks.  Copper wire has surrounding by flexible insulation. Metallic foil is covered over the insulating called second layer. Second layer is reduce the amount of outside interference. Coaxial cable is provision 10 to 100 mbps of transmission rate.

Coaxial Cable

The advantages of the coaxial cable include high bandwidth, noise immunity is good, low cost and simple to install. 

The disadvantage of this cable is, the failure of cable can disturb the whole network

Optical Fiber Cable

This cable uses the view of light reflected through a core that is made with plastic or glass.  Fiber optic cable can run 100km (60 miles) without amplifying the light signal. Fiber optical can be used medium for telecommunication and networking since it is more flexible than another cable. The light transition did the fiber due to reflection within the material.

Optical Fiber Cable

The main advantages of this cable comprise lightweight, capacity & bandwidth will be amplified, signal attenuation is less, 

The disadvantages are high cost, fragile, installation & maintenance is difficult and unidirectional.
